JAM SESSIONS JUST DOWN THE STREET....

In case you didn't know, our monthly JAM sessions have moved just down the street! If you pass the old Opry House location on the left, and continue down Main Street past the Belmont City Hall, you will see the recently opened Belmont Soda Shop on the right. The Soda Shop is owned by Scott Caldwell - a longtime friendly face around Belmont - and a good friend. He has gladly opened his doors on the first Monday night of each month for the JAM sessions to continue. Show up about 7:00pm and remember, he has old-fashioned milk shakes to tempt you, so come ready to enjoy the music and the goodies ! Please support the Soda Shop and be sure to shake Scott's hand and thank him for welcoming the JAM !

In Case You Didn't Know...

As most of you are aware, the Scruggs Opry House has slowly come to a halt. We'd like to thank
those of you who regularly supported the Opry House and our efforts to promote bluegrass music in a family-friendly, wholesome environment. We hope you will continue to seek opportunities to support bluegrass music and not let it become a "thing of the past". When you have the chance, please encourage young singers and musicians to continue to play and appreciate this type of music.... if young people do not keep it going, it will slowly fade with the passing of the older generation. August JAM in Stowe Park

We're planning to meet at Stowe Park on MONDAY AUGUST 2nd for a JAM SESSION.
The last one was really well-received and everyone had a good time. Plan to start at 7:00pm
and go til about 9:00pm. All bluegrass musicians are invited to join in ...beginner - to - advanced
welcomed ! Remember: Bring a lawn chair, some cold water, and maybe the insect repellent.
From Hwy 74, come into Belmont down Main Street and pass by the Scruggs Opry House location
on your left. Continue down Main Street and cross the railroad tracks. Stowe Park is there on
the right. (There are modern restroom facilities on the grounds of the park for your convenience.)

CHANGE OF PLANS .......

At this point, the plan for the July 5th Bluegrass Musicians' JAM SESSION is that
it will be held at Stowe Park in downtown Belmont. If you come down North Main Street
and pass by the Opry House location on your left, continue through Belmont and the
park will be on your right after you cross over the railroad tracks. We plan to begin at
7:00 pm as usual. Bring a lawn chair ! It will probably be pretty warm, so bring some
cold water with you as well ! (And maybe the insect repellent !! )

June Jam Session....

MONDAY JUNE 7th.......MONTHLY JAM SESSION !! Door opens about 6:45pm.
Jam runs 7:00 - 9:00pm. No Admission Charge. Musicians and "listeners" welcome !

MAY Jam Session.....

Hi folks ! The next BLUEGRASS JAM SESSION will be on Monday MAY 3rd from 7:00 to 9:00pm. The door opens at 6:45pm. There is no admission charge on JAM nights. All
musicians are invited, regardless of skill level or experience ! And...if you play more than
one instrument, feel free to bring more than one. ALSO....a lot of you may already have your
gardens fully planted, but if not, be sure to go by and see our friend Doug Ivey at the Warlick
School in Ranlo, NC. He and his horticulture students have tomato and pepper plants ready
to go, as well as hanging flower baskets and other goodies ! You can check out the chickens
and the rabbits they take care of as well. These kids mix their own potting soil using the
compost their animals produce - it's quite a set up ! They're trying to raise money for their
horticulture program and they could really use your support !

April JAM Session...

Don't forget the Monthly JAM SESSION on Monday APRIL 5th ! The door opens about 6:45pm and the JAM runs 7:00-9:00pm. There is no admission charge on Jam Nights. Bluegrass musicians of all skill levels are invited and encouraged to attend ! Hope to see you there....

MARCH 2010 Jam.....

JAM SESSION Monday March 1st at 7:00pm ! Mark your calendars now for the next Monthly Jam Session ! The door opens at 6:45pm, with the jam running 7:00 - 9:00pm. As always, there is no admission charge on JAM NIGHT but your purchases at the snack bar help with expenses - we appreciate your support ! Hot coffee, old fashioned bottled Coke, water, candy, chips, etc, available at just $1.00 Come to play or just to listen ! Beginner-to-advanced musicians invited ! Don't miss this opportunity to join a relaxed, friendly JAM in beautiful, historic downtown Belmont. Children are welcome as well, and we wrap up promptly at 9:00pm to get them home for school the next day ! We hope you'll join us ....

Many of you know local bluegrass musician Gray Drum, who is a student at South Point.
We ask you to remember Gray, his dad, brother, and family in the recent loss of his mother,
June Drum. Anthony worked with June at one point, and we've been happy to get to know
Gray over recent years. June always had a great sense of humor and she will be missed.

February JAM Session......

Kevin Richardson & Cuttin' Edge Saturday, December 5th @ The Opry House

Coming Saturday, December 5th the Scruggs Opry House would like to welcome Kevin Richardson & Cuttin' Edge. This group is formed from the current Larry Stephenson Band. Larry Stephenson is taking off a couple of months while his band members Kevin Richardson and Josh Greene are forming the band "Kevin Richardson & Cuttin' Edge" to keep them busy the next couple of months. Other band members are Scott Burgess, Jimmy Fraley, and Milom Williams.
You better get to the Opry House early to get your seat. This is going to be a great night of bluegrass and gospel music.

Mark your calendars now for the NOVEMBER JAM SESSION on Monday NOV. 2nd !!
JAM SESSIONS run 7:00 - 9:00pm and you'll find we have a very relaxed atmosphere, with a
terrific mix of new and "seasoned" musicians ! We had some new folks at the last jam session
and we hope YOU will join us as well. There is no admission charge on JAM NIGHTS, but
the snack bar will be open with old-fashioned bottled Cokes, hot coffee, candy bars, chips, etc.

Don't forget !! The JAM SESSION will be MONDAY SEPTEMBER 14th, due to Labor Day falling on our normal "1st Monday". Join us from 7:00 - 9:00pm for some spontaneous bluegrass music ! Always open to musicians of all levels of experience. If you're an "old dog" we NEED YOU to come teach these young guys a thing or two, and if you're a "newbie" this is EXACTLY where you should be !! We host a very relaxed and open session where everyone can take part and have a good time ! NO ADMISSION CHARGE ON JAM NIGHT !!
However, the snack bar will be open and we ask you to support the Opry with your purchase of a cold old-fashioned coke or a hot coffee....cookies, candy bars and chips too ! We look forward to seeing you ! Thanks !

We're happy to welcome first time visitors TOBY CREEK Band to the Opry House on Saturday August 29th ! We hear good things about these guys - maybe you've caught their shows in Dallas - and we're excited to invite you out to enjoy an evening of great music with us ! As always, the door opens at 6:30 and the show starts at 7:00pm. Adult admission is $8 and kids 10 & under get in free with a paying adult. Remember...the snack bar is always open and we appreciate your support of the Opry House. So come out and help us welcome these guys to the Opry !

Remember, there is never an admission charge on JAM NIGHT ! However, the snack bar will be open and we appreciate your purchases, which help keep the Opry up and running ! ALL MUSICIANS ARE WELCOMED AND ENCOURAGED TO BRING AS MANY INSTRUMENTS AS THEY PLEASE ! We had a great turn out at the August JAM and we're looking forward to this one......beginner - to - advanced welcomed !
